Introducing Life Badger!
I’m excited to share that I’ve just released my newest app, Life Badger! 🦡
This app has been a project I’ve worked on after hours and during weekends when wanting something creative to dive into. It started from a few very specific ideas: I wanted an application to track planes I’ve flown on, national parks I’ve visited, and theater shows I’ve seen (Not to expose too much of my non-software engineering interests! 😉). But as I thought about it, I realized all these ideas shared a common theme: There are so many todo apps, what I wanted was a to-done app. Some of your achievement lists will get updated often, while others, might only change every few years.
For this application release, I focused on exploring a different business approach. The app has no ads and will follow a one-time purchase model, moving away from the subscription setup I used in my last app, Today I Am. Despite solid user numbers on that app, my earlier projects (Meal37 and TextTime) have consistently outperformed it in terms of income. A great article by Marc Lou, “Ditch Your Subscription,” was the tipping point that fully convinced me to give this model another shot for my development style. I’m hoping by removing ads and moving away from subscriptions, Life Badger will offer a more valuable and premium experience.
I also wanted to make Life Badger fun with a new branding approach. The overall look and feel are what I’m most proud of. I introduced a badger mascot (a badger, of course!) who appears in the app icon and throughout the design, even inspiring the app’s color palette. The badger adds a playful and personal touch to the experience, and I hope users enjoy them as much as I do.
Like all my apps, Life Badger is an experiment, something I wanted to create in exactly this form. I’m really happy with how it turned out and hope others find it useful and fun! If you want to learn more about it, its website is here.
👉 If you’re curious, it’s available now on the App Store as Life Badger - Achievement Log. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
