Tia, the Tea Cup, Is Now the Face of Today I Am
Edit: After surprising pushback, Tia is now a Tea cup.
After the success of Life Badger, one thing became very clear to me: people love a character. There’s something special about having a little face cheering you on—a mascot that makes an app feel like a friend instead of just another tool.
So when I looked at Today I Am, I realized it was missing that touch of personality. Sure, the daily Personas are already funimaginative, you can wake up as a toaster or a thunderstorm, but there wasn’t a character tying it all together.
Now there is. Meet Tia.
Tia is a coffee cup… With a face… And big feelings.
Her name, short for Today I Am, also sounds like “tea,” which she finds a bit ironic but she chooses to embrace it. She is basically the embodiment of the app itself: warm, quirky, a little existential, and ready to be something entirely new every single day. She might be a cup of coffee this morning, but tomorrow? Who knows. A sneaker? A spoon? A planet?
What I love most is that Tia brings a sense of continuity and comfort. She appears in the onboarding flow, guiding you gently through the app with a smile. She helps the app feel less like software and more like a companion. You’ll see her pop up in more places over time, maybe in animations, maybe on your watch.
With Life Badger, the mascot felt like a cheerleader. With Today I Am, Tia feels like a friend you can check in with. She’s not here to judge or push. She’s there, curious, comforting, and caffeinated.
So, say hello to Tia. She’s the cup of whatever-you-need that day. And she’s glad you’re here. The update is rolling out now, I hope the world likes her.
